EMDR Therapy

Move beyond your past and create a better future.
It feels like your life consists of two steps forward, one step backward. Things haven’t been easy for you. You’ve experienced pain, fear, anxiety, and trauma. It’s exhausting.
You’ve thought about therapy before, and maybe even tried it, but you’re a little worried because you know that dealing with all of this is hard.
Therapy is not the place to hide from or be fearful of pain. It is the place where you can see what purpose this pain holds, take control of the pain, and ultimately, take control of your life again.
I became an EMDR certified therapist because EMDR therapy can be highly effective in treating trauma and other negative experiences. My clients are often dealing with difficult life experiences such as:
Childhood trauma or abuse
Anxiety/panic attacks
Constantly feeling on edge
Feeling like you always have to be “on alert”
Unexpected and/or frequent flashbacks to traumatic events
“Spacing out” at different times during the day
Suddenly feeling like you’re back in time when a traumatic event occurred
Overwhelming sense of stress and anxiety
These are intense emotions that are difficult to experience on a daily basis, and can be challenging to work through in therapy. My role as your therapist is to provide the safety, support, and guidance you need to work through these painful experiences, so that you can see a transformation in your life. So that you can yourself in a different light. So that you can have faith in yourself to handle challenges and make changes.

FAQ’s About EMDR Therapy
What is EMDR Therapy?
Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing therapy, or EMDR for short, is a type of therapy shown to be effective for many areas of concern, including trauma and anxiety.
Unlike many forms of therapy, EMDR does not focus on talking, making it a very useful strategy for dealing with complex emotions that can be difficult to discuss. Increased or chronic stress impairs your brain’s ability to fully process these events, and can make you more reactive to current stressors you experience. We will focus on quick eye movements or tapping to help you process memories and feelings.

How can EMDR help me?
EMDR therapy helps the brain to process memories and heal, without requiring a person to share verbally or go into detail regarding difficult or traumatic events.
Is EMDR like hypnosis?
Nope, EMDR therapy is very different from hypnosis. During your session you will remain fully awake and remember the entire session. Part of my training involves making sure to provide a safe environment for you to process difficult emotions and memories while ensuring that you stay conscious and aware of the surrounding space.
